Workspace Modes: Brand vs Product
Every workspace runs in one of two modes, chosen when you create it. The mode decides how Gracker counts a "mention" - so it's worth understanding before you set anything up.
The two modes
- Multi-Brand - you track several independent brands, each with its own website. Best for agencies, portfolios, or a company with distinct brands that don't share a product line.
- Multi-Product - you track several products that belong to one parent company (for example, one vendor's SSO, MFA, and passwordless products). Products can share a domain, and Gracker scores mentions at the product level.
Why the mode matters
The mode changes how the AI judge decides whether your brand (or a product) was actually mentioned in an answer.
| Multi-Brand | Multi-Product | |
|---|---|---|
| What you track | Independent brands | Products under one company |
| Website | Each brand has its own domain | Products may share a domain |
| Competitors | Named companies/brands | Competing products, each with a parent company |
| What counts as a mention | The brand name or its aliases | A distinctive product or company name |
| Generic category words | Counted normally | A bare word like "SSO" or "MFA" counts for no one |
Product mode exists because in crowded, single-vendor-many-product categories, a word like "MFA" describes the whole category, not one vendor - so crediting it to anyone would inflate everyone's score. Product mode only counts a mention when the answer names a specific product or company.
Which should you pick?
- Pick Multi-Brand if your brands are separate businesses or house brands that don't overlap.
- Pick Multi-Product if one company sells several products in the same category and you want each scored on its own.
The mode is set when you create the workspace and shapes every score inside it, so choose the one that matches how your buyers actually name you. To change an existing workspace, open your Workspaces list, click Edit on the workspace, and switch the Type between Multi-brand and Multi-product.
