Visibility Score Explained
The Visibility Score is GrackerAI's primary metric. It measures how often your brand is mentioned in AI search responses across your tracked prompts.
How It's Calculated
Visibility is computed at three levels:
- Per response — Did your brand appear in this specific AI answer? Weight by prominence.
- Per prompt — Average across all responses to this prompt across all selected AI models.
- Per monitor / portfolio — Average across all prompts in the group.
A 100% score means your brand is the dominant or sole brand mentioned. A 0% means you're absent.
What's a Good Score?
Context matters more than absolute numbers, but rough benchmarks:
| Score range | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 0–10% | Invisible. Significant content investment needed. |
| 10–30% | Emerging presence. AI engines know you but don't lead with you. |
| 30–55% | Competitive. You're a regular option in AI answers. |
| 55–75% | Strong. AI engines lead with you in many responses. |
| 75%+ | Category dominance. Protect aggressively. |
For B2B SaaS startups in their first 90 days, a 0–10% baseline is normal. Cybersecurity vendors with established CVE/compliance content often start at 15–25%.
Why Scores Fluctuate
AI engines update frequently. Expected sources of fluctuation:
- Model updates — A new ChatGPT or Gemini version can shift citations dramatically in a week
- Competitor content — Major competitor launches, funding rounds, or content drops shift the landscape
- Indexing lag — New content takes 1–4 weeks to propagate into AI training/retrieval
- Seasonal queries — Compliance topics spike around audit cycles; security topics around breach disclosures
A 5–10 point weekly fluctuation is normal. A 15+ point drop in 7 days warrants investigation.
How to Improve Your Score
- Sort prompts by Visibility ↑ to find gaps
- Read responses on the worst-performing prompts to see what's being cited instead
- Build the content type that's winning (listicles, comparison pages, deep technical guides)
- Earn placements on the cited domains (G2, industry listicles, Reddit, YouTube)
- Re-measure in 4–6 weeks
