Glossary of Terms

Definitions for every term used across GrackerAI.

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)

Optimizing content to be the source of direct answers in featured snippets, AI Overviews, and conversational AI responses. Focuses on citation, not click-through.

AI Overview

Google's in-search AI-generated summary that appears above traditional blue links. Surfaces in roughly 16% of all searches.

Brand Specific Prompt

A prompt naming your own brand directly. Example: "Acme Auth pricing."

Citation

A web page that an AI engine pulled from to generate its response. Tracked aggregate counts indicate authority in your category.

Citation Occurrences

The total count of times a domain or URL was cited across all your tracked responses.

Commercial Intent

A prompt where the buyer is evaluating tools to buy. Example: "Best CRM for mid-market SaaS."

Competitor Comparison Prompt

A prompt naming one or more competitors. Example: "Splunk vs Sentinel."

E-E-A-T

Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness. Google's quality signals; AI engines weight similar criteria.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

Optimizing for citation in generative AI search engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini). Closely related to AEO; the terminology overlaps in practice.

Group (Prompt Group)

A label that organizes prompts by theme — competitor, vertical, use case. Mirrors monitor naming convention.

Informational Intent

A prompt where the buyer is learning, not buying. Example: "How does SAML SSO work?"

llms.txt

A standardized file at yoursite.com/llms.txt that helps AI engines understand your site's content. GrackerAI auto-generates this for portals.

Mention

An instance of your brand name appearing in an AI response. Different from a citation (which is what AI pulled from).

Monitor

A configured group of prompts that runs on a schedule against selected AI engines.

Organic Prompt

A prompt that doesn't name any specific brand. Category and educational prompts. Example: "Best vulnerability scanner for cloud workloads."

pSEO (Programmatic SEO)

Generating hundreds or thousands of pages from a single template plus a dataset.

Prompt

A real question your buyers might ask an AI search engine. The unit of measurement in GrackerAI.

Sentiment

The tone of how AI describes your brand and category — positive, neutral, or negative.

Type (Source Type)

Classification of a cited URL: Website, Corporate, Media, or Forum.

Unique Domains

Distinct websites referenced by AI in your tracked responses. Indicates breadth of citation surface.

Visibility Score

The primary metric measuring how often your brand appears in AI search responses across tracked prompts. 0–100%.
