HellPot: An Endless Honeypot for HTTP Bots
HellPot is an endless honeypot built on Heffalump that sends unruly HTTP bots to their demise. It notably features a TOML configuration file, offers JSON logging, and delivers significant performance improvements. Clients (ideally bots) that ignore robots.txt and connect to your instance of HellPot will face dire consequences. HellPot will unleash an infinite stream of data that closely resembles a real website, enticing them to linger until their essence is torn apart and they cease to exist. At the core of this perpetual torment is a Markov engine that randomly pieces together excerpts from "The Birth of Tragedy (Hellenism and Pessimism)" by Friedrich Nietzsche, delivering it to the client via fasthttp. Building From Source: To build HellPot, it is recommended to use Go version 1.17 or higher. HellPot utilizes Go modules.
