The Firewall, Blackhole, and Privatizing Proxy provide protection against trackers, attackers, malware, adware, and spammers. This system includes On-Demand and On-Access Anti-Virus Scanning. It offers security at the kernel level, OS level, and client level specifically for macOS. This solution is designed to combat a continuous influx of attacks that can be seen in snort and server logs. Additionally, it blocks ads, harmful scripts, and hides information that could be used to track your online activities. After installing this package, detections in snort and other monitoring systems have significantly decreased due to a few straightforward blocking actions.

This setup is significantly more capable and effective compared to simply using an adblocking browser add-on.

There is a significant difference between web pages that are filled with ads and those that utilize a filtering proxy server.

It's also saved me from unintentionally clicking on phishing links. The proxy features of macOS include an adaptive firewall, which protects against brute force attacks. IP blocks are updated approximately twice a day from emergingthreats.net (covering IP blocks, compromised hosts, and malvertisers) and dshield.org’s top-20. Host blocks are also updated about twice daily from hphosts.net. Additionally, there is HTTPS Inspection using Privoxy, along with EasyList Tracker and Adblock Rules for Privoxy via adblock2privoxy. This system incorporates multiple blocking rules.
