GRFICS: A Graphical Realism Framework for Industrial Control Simulations
GRFICS is a graphical realism framework designed for industrial control simulations. It utilizes the Unity 3D game engine graphics to make industrial control system security more accessible. With GRFICS, users can explore a complete virtual industrial control system (ICS) network. This allows them to practice common attacks such as command injection, man-in-the-middle attacks, and buffer overflows. Users can visually observe the effects of their attacks through 3D visualization. Additionally, users can enhance their defensive skills by effectively segmenting the network using robust firewall rules or by writing intrusion detection rules. Originally, GRFICS was developed by researchers from Fortiphyd Logic and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The goal was to provide practical ICS security skills to a broader audience. We kindly request that any adaptations or publications arising from the use of GRFICS include a citation for this GitHub repository and the workshop paper we published about the framework: Formby, D., Rad, M., and Beyah, R. Lowering the Barriers to Industrial Control System Security with GRFICS. In 2018 USENIX Workshop on Adv.
