Some HomeTeamNS servers were compromised by a ransomware attack, as reported on March 3. The incident was discovered on February 25, impacting servers that stored data of current and former employees, alongside vehicle details of members and affiliate members. A ransomware attack can often lead to a data breach, exposing sensitive information to malicious actors. HomeTeamNS took immediate action by disabling and isolating the affected servers from its IT network. In a statement, they mentioned, “At this time, there is no evidence of data extraction, but we are monitoring closely.” The organization emphasized the importance of protecting stakeholders' personal data and has engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach. They are collaborating with the police and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore for further remediation efforts. In ransomware incidents, malicious actors typically encrypt files on servers and demand a ransom for their release. HomeTeamNS reassured its members that they have contacted those affected to assist in minimizing the impact from phishing or unauthorized transactions.
