On macOS Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey, you must first grant the app Full Disk Access permission. To do this, navigate to Settings > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access. Here, check the box for Open Backup Extractor, or click the + button to add it if you haven't run the app before.
